Oasis International, the oldest continuously operating nonprofit serving African immigrants and refugees in Rhode Island, honored Nkolika “Nkoli” Ajakwe Onye with the Professional Achievement Award. The award was presented at the 5th African Gala Night, themed “Opening Our Hearts and Minds to New Horizons,” held on Saturday, October 25 at the Providence Marriott.
Onye is currently the executive director of performance management for Providence Schools.
In addition to serving the diverse African community in Rhode Island, Oasis International provides services to low- and moderate-income residents of southwest Providence and works on youth leadership development.
