More than 50 schools from throughout Rhode Island performed holiday concerts at the State House during the month of December.

A combined choral performance by the Carnevale Elementary School and DelSesto Middle School was broadcast on Capitol TV, the state public affairs channel. Led by Music Teacher Robert Maher, the students’ voices filled the State House with songs such as “I Count My Blessings,” “Run Rudolph, Run,” the Candy Cane Twist” and popular upbeat holiday songs, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” and “Jingle Bell Rock.”

Third-grader Naydelin Ruiz served as mistress of ceremonies. Maher’s wife, Patricia, is the director of the DelSesto Middle School Chorus.

The chorus from Robert F. Kennedy Elementary School, led by Shirley Medici, entertained a festive crowd during the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony held on December 3.
