WBNA Recognizes Providence Public School District

At the Annual Meeting of the West Broadway Neighborhood Association, held on January 13, the Providence Public School District (PPSD) was recognized for the creation of the West Broadway Middle School, restoring a school to the building at 29 Bainbridge Avenue that housed West Broadway Elementary School until its closure in 2007. PPSD Chief of Administration Joseph DiPina accepted the group’s Municipal Award on behalf of the district.

Mayor Jorge Elorza addressed the group of more than 250 on his vision for collective impact and working together to move the city forward.

West Broadway Middle School Principal William Black, staff and students, along with principal Denise Missry from the neighboring Asa Messer Elementary School, were featured at the meeting.

Also in attendance were Senator Paul Jabour, Representative John Lombardi, Representative Anastasia Williams, Councilwoman Sabina Matos and Councilman Bryan Principe.

The meeting was followed by tours of the West Broadway Middle School led by students.
