Lowe’s Awards Bailey $5,000 Toolbox Education Grant

The Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $5,000 Lowe’s Toolbox for Education Grant to Robert L. Bailey Elementary School for renovation of their existing gardens and the school’s science program/construction of a new raised bed garden.

Bailey would like to create areas on the school campus to use as outdoor classrooms, incorporating the Next Generation Science Standards that call for authentic, real-world applications. By introducing the ecology that is in the students’ backyards, they will have the opportunity to collect real world data to use in class investigations as well as compare models to real world situations and events.

Robert L. Bailey is one of more than 500 schools across the United States to be awarded a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant for improvement projects during the 2014-2015 school year.
