Five Classical High School Seniors Named National Merit Finalists

A high number of Classical High School seniors have been named National Merit Finalists based on their PSAT/NMSQT scores in critical reading, mathematics and writing skills. The students are: Kaia Heimer-Bumstead, David Mayer, Alison McPhearson, Marco Vestuti and Joseph Zurier.

In September, approximately one-third of the 50,000 high scorers are notified that they have qualified as semifinalists and are the highest-scoring entrants in each state. Some 15,000 students are notified in February that they have advanced to Finalist standing by meeting high academic standards and other requirements. All winners are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills and accomplishments. Some 7,600 finalists will receive a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship, corporate-sponsored and college-sponsored Merit Scholarship awards.
