To raise funds for their travel and lodging costs for the SkillsUSA national competition held each June in Louisville, Ky., the PCTA chapter is hosting a spaghetti dinner on Monday, March 30 at the PCTA Cafeteria from 4-6:30 p.m. Suggested donations are $20 for two dinners or $15 for one dinner that includes spaghetti with no meat, a beverage, bread, salad and dessert.
The SkillsUSA Championship is the showcase for the best career and technical students in the nation. Contests begin locally and continue through the state and national levels. Last year, in a space equivalent to 16 football fields, nearly 6,000 contestants competed in 98 separate events that are judged by 1,500 industry experts and teachers. The philosophy of the championships is to reward students for excellence, to involve industry in directly evaluating student performance and to keep training relevant to employers’ needs.
