Principals and assistant principals in the Providence Public School District enjoyed a fun fiesta at their end-of-year gathering at the Roger Williams Park Casino. Supt. Dr. Susan Lusi and Chief of Instruction, Leadership and Equity Dr. Lori McEwen offered remarks, thanking building administrators for their dedication and hard work on behalf of their staffs, students and families. Chief of Administration Joseph DiPina then acted as emcee, raffling off restaurant gift cards and more.
Whether they tossed their caps or decorated them, cheered jubilantly or walked quietly across the stage, more than 1000 seniors who graduated from Providence’s eight high schools were filled with pride, excitement and a few tears.
Beginning with a morning parade of “shining stars,” featuring the school’s 730 students, the Sgt. Cornel Young/Charlotte Woods Elementary School enjoyed a fun and sun-splashed Field Day on Wednesday, June 17.

This nonprofit organization works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games, culminating in a celebratory 5K race.
