DelSesto Middle School raised funds for the Rhode Island Food Bank with a fun and colorful event.

On Saturday, May 16, Del Sesto Middle School hosted a “Color Run, Roll, or Walk to End Bullying,” organized by Student Council President Ashley Rodriguez and Advisor Kaleen O’Leary.

More than 75 students, staff and family members dressed in bright, electric colors attended and participated in the event.  A donation of $1 or more was required to participate. Wearing “Band Against Bullying” wristbands, students, teachers, staff, administrators, family members, and parents pledged to work together to help end bullying.  All participants made the Feinstein pledge: “I will never forget I am a Feinstein Jr. Scholar – I will always keep being helpful to others.”

Participants walked or ran for 45 minutes. Running 16 laps around the school, Vanessa Casado earned third place.  After a nail-biting tie breaker sprint, Henry Gomez placed second while Isaiah Guerrero earned the first-place title.  Winners received Subway gift cards and additional prizes.

After the walk, participants enjoyed refreshments, fun activities such as bubbles and hula hoops, and taking yearbook pictures in the photo booth.  Over $250 was raised on this beautiful day by the student council to be donated to the Rhode Island Food Bank.
