Girls on the Run to return to MLK this fall

Back by popular demand!  Next fall, Dr. Martin Luther King Elementary (MLK) School will again host a Girls on the Run team. This nonprofit organization works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games, culminating in a celebratory 5K race.

This fall’s program will be coached by two MLK parents, Erin Abrahamsen and Aeron Hunt, along with a community coach.  Girls on the Run is open to all girls in grades 3-5 and will meet after school on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m.- 4:45 p.m.

Parent and teacher volunteers are needed to help with practice or running with a girl for the final celebratory 5K run, held in November.

Paper sign-ups will be available in the MLK office at the start of the next school year.
