More than 100 attendees listen as Mayor Jorge Elorza offers congratulations to the parent participants in various PPSD-sponsored skill-building opportunities.

Mayor Jorge Elorza joined Superintendent Dr. Susan Lusi and other Providence Schools officials to honor parents who’ve taken advantage of the numerous programming opportunities open to them this year. From Rosetta Stone® English-language learning classes to the 16 varieties of workshops offered through the Providence Parent Academy, hundreds of Providence parents increased their skills and abilities to support their students this year.

Members of the district’s Parent Advisory Committee, who come together from more than 20 schools on a monthly basis, were also recognized at the June 16 event held at Central High School. Twenty parent leaders who were enrolled in the multi-session, intensive Parent Leadership Training were specially recognized.
